Student Tribute

For a final project, I was tasked with creating a collection of work using a style I am not familiar with. Since my final year of college did not end in the way that I had imagined, I chose to do a tribute to the classmates who I have had the pleasure of getting to know along my journey. I chose to do an illustration portrait for each individual, while also adding my favorite trait about them.  

Josiah Van De Steeg

Josiah has impacted multiple different aspects of my life throughout college. We have been classmates, teammates, and eventually became close friends and roommates. Josiah has helped me tremendously with learning new Adobe features and programs and I have learned a lot of valuable design lessons from him. The crown on Josiah's head resembles his personal logo, which is a combination of an ink pen and a reference to King Josiah from the bible. Josiah's crown resembles faithfulness; to his religion, relationships, and beliefs.  

Taryn Collins

Taryn is arguably one of the funniest people I have ever met. Not only has she impacted my design work over the last couple of years, but she has also given me multiple tips and lessons on photography. This includes editing, lighting, posing, and many more. We've both had to learn multiple new programs in the Adobe suite, so we were able to help each other along the way.  Taryn's halos represent her honesty and ability to keep the mood light. 

Jared Becker

Jared is a very spontaneous and adventure-seeking individual. He has taught me to push the boundaries of my designs and experiment with styles I typically wouldn't. Jared has taught me how to be a more spontaneous and easy-going individual, which are attributes that will be beneficial in years to come. The "drip" effect resembles Jared's willingness to "go with the flow" and make the most out of every situation. 

Abby Pinor

From the day I first met Abby, I knew she was a very charismatic individual. In every class I have taken with her, she contributes one-hundred percent to discussions and critiques and makes sure she provides positive feedback for everyone in the class. Abby shares her opinions and ideas with others in a very polite and positive manner. The flowers in Abby's illustration represent the caringness and compassion she brings to every community, no matter how big or small.  

Alyssa Larsen

Alyssa has recently become a major impact on my life, both as a designer and a friend. I would constantly be asking her endless questions and she would always be willing to help. The stars in Alyssa's illustration represent the bubbly and sparkly personality that she illuminates on everyone around her.
